Krampus
A downloadable game
Hello all!
Krampus is a retro-game that I created using NESmaker for a class I was taking. It is far from done, and more of a small project to test the waters with NESmaker and the 8-bit style game genre. With that said, about 6 weeks ago, I went and did some market research on what kind of titles would do best in this market. After finding a few websites that gave the statitics of previous years sales, and reading a few articles on previous holiday games that sold well or were hits; I came to the conclusion that 1) Holiday themed games did well. 2) Retro-style games were in. 3) Finally, that you really can't go wrong with something similar to current popular hits (ie. new Zelda game). And just like that, Krampus was first concepted.
Krampus is a top down, 8-bit adventure that was made using NESmaker. The game feels like an old Zelda game, and uses the holiday theme of Krampus. You play an unnamed witch that is on the final trial for acceptance into the mountain witch covenant and in order to complete your task, you must gather the needed power to open the way, and take on the previous Krampus monster. Once you kill Krampus, collect the essence he is guarding, and become the newest edition tot the mountain witch covenant.
Again, this is by no means an even remotely finished product, but I wanted to throw something together in my short class to learn more about creating games, marketing them and also just learning this new engine that really intrigued me. I hope you enjoy and thanks for visiting my little corner!
(Update! v2! 12-17-19 : Changed character sprite, fixed animations to fit it, and even got the weapons to line up. Now the Witch is better defined. Download and play Krampusv2 for the updated one.)
(Update! v3! 12--31-19 : Early Happy New Years all! I'm just throwing up this update for all those who want to check it out. I won't be putting too much time into this, but I wanted to update the title screen and fix a few bugs I found while playing around. Everything seems to be working smooth, and I hope you enjoy the new title screen (it was a pain, lol). Please download and try out v3 of the game to see the updates!
Install instructions
Make sure you have a nintendo emulator installed to play the file! Thank you!
